A couple of announcements:
The newsletter option several people were asking about will drop this week, I have decided on the best platform/way to do it.
I am still ideating the best way to include recovery stories and would love feedback on this.
For those who want to help with compiling news, I will be adding a Google Forms link in the next addition.
I think I will incorporate more polls into this on a weekly basis.
Research
TL;DR: Interesting case study. A person with covid developed pericarditis a year after initial infection. This is odd since we mostly think this happens fairly recently to acute infection. The authors believe that it was a covid infection-related diagnosis because ‘recurring pericardial symptoms and persistent elevations in D-dimer and CRP point toward a COVID etiology, particularly in the absence of other factors associated with pericarditis. ’
Effect of Oral Nirmatrelvir on Long COVID Symptoms: 4 Cases and Rationale for Systematic Studies
TL;DR: Research shows varied outcomes of Nirmatrelvir
(1/2 of Paxlovid) on Long Covid. 3/4 people with Long Covid seemed to get better. One person took it during the initial infection and still got Long Covid. [ Could not find full article but thought this was interesting, nonetheless]
Are Amyloid Fibrin Microclots Central to Long COVID?
TL;DR: Clot-related post. Basically, researchers in South Africa looked at 80 people with Long Covid and found that all of them had these clotting issues. The clotting seems to be caused by platelet hyperactivation.
On treatments: ‘One of the possible treatments will be to prevent micro clots from forming and to prevent platelet hyperactivation. Oral anticoagulants or nutraceuticals might be an option to investigate, and some clinicians have embarked upon clinician-initiated treatment regimens that include such treatments’
Polls
TL;DR: Hannah Davis on Twitter found that the prevalence of people knowing at least one person with LC has increased dramatically within 6 months
At what number infections did you get long covid?(My poll)
TL;DR: Took a poll on this subreddit earlier this week to see at what # infection people tended to get Long Covid.

U.S. scientists enroll nearly 40,000 patients in high-stakes, $1.2 billion study of long Covid
TL:DR: US Gov is finally making a movement on Recover, the massive Long Covid study which will enroll 40,000 people by year’s end. The article also mentioned that the NIH will be launching trials for treatments.
New US Study Helps Demystify Long COVID Brain Fog
TL;DR: A study looked at the brains of several people who died from covid. The researchers believe that our immune response to covid damaged the brain & led to a cascade of symptoms that may resemble Long Covid. Damage to these cells can cause’ can cause leakage of proteins, bleeding and clots, which elevates the risk of stroke.’
Who’s clapping now? UK healthcare workers with long Covid have been abandoned
TLDR: Really sad article. In the UK, healthcare workers, who fought on the front line of Covid, are being abandoned. “NHS workers who are sick with long Covid are now vulnerable to disciplinary absence procedures, and loss of employment, career, and income.” I would not be surprised if we are seeing similar outcomes in other parts of the world.
