Hi everyone, Some BIG LC news this week, the US Senate is holding a hearing on Long Covid on Thursday. This is likely the best opportunity LC has to increase exposure and (try to) get more funding. As we all know, ReCOVer is going to run out of funding at some point, so we need back up options ready to go. If you are going in-person to the meeting,
Hi Brandon, this is a week late....I had Covid again in December with a Paxlovid rebound. It felt like a cold and I have fully recovered. I did not have any LC set backs. Thank you for all of the amazing work you do.
Great post as usual. The gut research is particularly interesting to me because dysbiosis is my most intractable symptom. Literally nothing I’ve tried - several different diets, pre- pro- and post-biotics, intermittent fasting, longer fasting - moves the needle on this. Either I have persistent viral infection in my gut or several key species have just been wiped out.
Yes agreed it is a super tough problem. I am thinking about writing an article on this but I have a hypothesis is mediated by a relationship between our gut - mast cells - persistent viral infections.
I think you’re right. My functional medicine doctor recently said he believes a lot of my problems are downstream of mast cell issues.
Also, check this out - I have developed two frozen shoulders within the last year. I thought they were just caused by not using my shoulders much since LC. Then I googled something about frozen shoulders and this is what it says under the histopathology section on the NIH page:
“The studies of histopathology for the glenohumeral capsule have confirmed a significant increase in fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, and inflammatory cells, like B-lymphocytes, mast cells, and macrophages.”

Meghan sorry about the reinfection but I am so happy to hear that you did not have any set backs!
Also, I had a booster in September.

Great issue Brandon. All in the LC community probably appreciate the work you are doing.
Thanks, Michael. Shout out to Amy as well, the newsletter would not be possible without her contributions!
